Die Vorbehandlung von ABS-Kunststoffen vor dem Galvanisieren und Möglichkeiten zur Beeinflussung des Ausschusses
Für die Herstellung von gut haftenden, galvanisch abgeschiedenen Metallschichten auf Kunststoffformteilen ist es notwendig, die verschiedenen Einflussmöglichkeiten der beteiligten Prozesse zu kennen. Es ist den Herstellern eines zu galvanisierenden Kunststoffteils oft nicht klar, welchen negativen Einfluss sie auf die Qualität des Endproduktes nehmen können, zum Beispiel durch eine geringe Werkzeugwandtemperatur, da an dem Teil nach dem Spritzgiessen optisch nichts festzustellen ist. Genauso ist der Galvaniseur gefordert, die Wirkungsweise der einzelnen Behandlungsbäder auf das Formteil zu kennen und durch die Einstellung der richtigen Parameter einen einwandfreien Überzug herzustellen. Nur durch das positive Zusammenspiel beider Prozesse ist ein gut funktionierendes und langlebiges Produkt herstellbar. In dem Artikel wird auf dieses Zusammenspiel der Prozesse eingegangen und er zeigt auf welche Fehler entstehen können.

Pre-treatment of ABS Plastics used for Metallising and Options for Modifying the Outcome
In order to achieve plated metallic coatings with good adhesion onto plastic mouldings, it is necessary to have an understanding of the various factors which can influence the outcome of this process. In many cases, the manufacturer of a plastic component destined to be metallised is unaware of some of the adverse factors which can affect the quality of his product. An example of this might be too low a wall temperature on the forming mould in the injection moulding process, which can adversely affect the moulding properties even though nothing is visible.. In the same way, the plater should be aware of the parameters governing the effects of the various treatment baths, if a satisfactory coating is to be obtained. Only by the optimisation of both processes can a satisfactory product with long service life, be assured. In this article, the interplay of these various processes is considered, noting possible defects arising from incorrect operating conditions.
