Zum 40. Todestag von Jaroslav Heyrovsky
Der tschechische Elektrochemiker Heyrovsky gilt zu Recht als einer der wichtigsten Wissenschaftler für die moderne Elektrochemie. Seine Arbeiten haben das Wissen um die Vorgänge an Elektrodenoberflächen, wie sie auch für die Galvanotechnik essentiell sind, deutlich vermehrt. Er hat sich aber vor allem mit der Entwicklung der Polarographie befasst, die nach wie vor als wichtiges Analysenverfahren für zahlreiche Stoffe bevorzugt im niederen Konzentrationsbereich gilt.

The 40th Anniversary of the Death of Jaroslav Heyrovsky
The Czech electrochemist, Jaroslav Heyrovsky, deserves his place as one of the most important scientists in the field of modern electrochemistry. Thanks to his work, our understanding of chemical and charge-transfer reactions at electrode surfaces - a key part of electrodeposition - has been greatly enhanced. He is, however, mainly associated with the technique of polarography, which today, as in the past, remains a superb technique for analysis of countless substances, especially in very low concetrations.
